Day 1: DEPART USA  Your exciting journey begins today as you depart Los Angeles (LAX) and fly overnight to Spain.

Day 2:   BARCELONA  Welcome to Barcelona, the capital of Spain’s Catalonia region!  You will be met and transferred to your first class hotel.  Rest of the day at leisure.  MELIA HOTEL (or similar)

Day 3:   BARCELONA After breakfast, your day is free to explore this vibrant city.  Classy, exciting, and cultural, Barcelona hosted the 1992 Summer Olympic Games.  The old center of town boasts one of the greatest concentrations of Gothic architecture in Europe; but you will also find many modern marvels throughout, including works by renowned artist Gaudi.  In the late afternoon, transfer to your luxury ship, NCL’s Spirit.  Set sail at 7:00 p.m. (B,D)

Tenerife, Canary Islands

Day 4 & 5:   AT SEA  The Norwegian Spirit has been designed to deliver freedom and flexibility to her guests.  Voted “One of the Top Large Cruise Ships Worldwide,” “Cruise Line of the Year,” and “Best All Around Cruise,” NCL has earned dozens of prestigious awards, in part because of bountiful amenities:  on the Spirit are 15 dining venues and 10 bars and lounges; 2 swimming pools and 4 hot tubs; Maharajah’s Casino; and a massive Roman Spa and Fitness Center.  A full wrap-around promenade deck is outdoors, and indoors are two boulevards and a large, stunning, two-deck high central atrium lobby, modeled after that of the Hyatt Hotel in Hong Kong, with three glass-walled elevators and ample space to peruse the shops and cafes that line its inner sanctum.  Happy roaming, and happy days at sea!  (B,L,D)

Day 6: FUNCHAL, MADEIRA, PORTUGAL   8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.  The mountainous isle of Madeira has been a popular European destination for years.  The idyllic island is perfect for exploring with its beautiful beaches, stunning lava formed landscapes and lush, green forests.  Sampling the famed Madeira wines is also an absolute must.  (B,L,D)

Day 7: SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, CANARY ISLANDS   8:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.  Santa Cruz is an enticing metropolis in the Canary Islands just off the northwestern coast of Africa.  The opera house is a spectacular work of architecture that resembles sails.  Unique urban sculptures and fun surprises dot this sun-kissed vacation island.  (B,L,D)

Day 8: ARRECIFE, CANARY ISLANDS   8:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.  Built on a quarry of volcanic ashes, the Cactus Gardens have on display 10,000 types of cactus.  Explore the lunar landscapes of Timanfaya National Park, home to the Fire Mountains.  Head north to Jameos del Agua to visit the volcanic caves and see the rare Blind Albino Crabs.  (B,L,D)

Day 9:  AT SEA   NCL’s Free-Style Cruising means dining when you want, and dressing as you want!  Your ship passes through the narrow Straits of Gibraltar, with Tangier, Morocco on one side and the Rock of Gibraltar on the other, and follows Spain’s famous Costa del Sol (“Sun Coast”) to Malaga. Day 10: MALAGA (GRANADA), SPAIN  9:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.  The strategic position to the Mediterranean Sea  has always made Malaga an attractive zone for foreign invasions—including tourists.  From Malaga, a trip to Granada showcases an intriguing blend of Arab and European cultures.  Be sure to visit The Alhambra, one of the finest examples of Moorish art in Spain.  Shore excursions to typical Andalusian villages will also be offered. Day 11: AT SEA   A final day to enjoy the many activities aboard your cruise ship. (B,L,D)

Day 12:   BARCELONA  After breakfast, bid adieu to the Spirit, as you disembark and transfer to the airport for your flight back to LAX.  Arrive in Los Angeles the same day.  (B)
